Grandpa was a farmer and my father was a farmer like his pa Raised me to be a farmer, but I guess that I took off after my ma Going down the highway, gonna see what my mama saw Going down the highway, gonna see what my mama saw Made some friends of ill-repute; I laid my reputation low I done some things I can’t take back; I guess I’ll have to fly to Mexico Going down the highway; Gonna learn what my mama knows Going down the highway; Gonna learn what my mama knows Run, rabbit, run. Run fast, rabbit, run Run, little rabbit, Or the crafty little rabbit’s Gonna meet the sheriff's gun Down to the ground Little rabbit to the ground Down to the ground Run, little rabbit, don’t be found Down to the ground Little rabbit to the ground Down to the ground Run, little rabbit, don’t be found Grandpa was a farmer and my father was a farmer like his pa Raised me to be a farmer, but I guess that I took off after my ma Going down the highway, gonna see what my mama saw Going down the highway, Gonna see what my mama saw Run, rabbit, run. Run fast, rabbit, run Run, little rabbit, Or the crafty little rabbit’s Gonna meet the sheriff's gun Run, rabbit, run. Run fast, rabbit, run Run, little rabbit, Or the crafty little rabbit’s Gonna meet the sheriff's gun Run, rabbit, run Run fast, rabbit, run Run, rabbit, run Run fast, rabbit, run Run, rabbit, run Run fast, rabbit, run Run, rabbit, run Run fast, rabbit, run

Bones 03:51
An old map in the glovebox This old truck still smells like granddad’s cigarettes A three on the tree and a clutch that sticks A windshield spiderwebbed where mama wept. Daddy drank every time that he felt small Try as I might I cannot recall a sober glance Daddy was a son of a bitch He drank every time that he got that itch And then that hand would start flying A young boy crouched in the closet He waits so silently for dad to sleep Mama face down on the carpet And toward the telephone that little boy did creep Granddad was the rock and the shelter oh Daddy was a son of a bitch He drank every time that he got that itch And then that hand would start flying And then that hand would start flying You ain't nothing now but bones You ain't nothing now but bones Turn all the lights off stay at home You ain't nothing now but bones You ain't nothing now but bones You ain't nothing now but bones Lock your doors and stay at home You ain't nothing now but bones

Sitting in the sunshine praying for shade counting out the money that I ain’t made going to the river gonna cast my line hoping for some dinner by supper time I don’t care where the money comes from I don’t care where the money comes from I don’t care where the money comes from I don’t care where the money comes from Bill collector coming try to break my spine telling me the money in my pocket aint mine going to the liquor store and bring my gun gonna take that register and make my run I don’t care where the money comes from I don’t care where the money comes from I don’t care where the money comes from I don’t care where the money comes from Should have seen the camera on the state store wall walking out in shackles ain’t standing tall sweating in the sunshine wishing for shade thinking on the errors that I have made

Take It Back 04:53
You and I, we’ll go down, we’ll paint the whole town red In mud and blood and sweat and tears Find the guy you used to know Make him pay for what he did Make him pay for all those scars He left you to carry all alone While you covered them with anger You covered them with fear You covered them with oxy And you covered them with beer You covered them by hiding Every part of you you loved Take it back, now, wish I could ever take it back, now. Memory lane, it is never clearly marked The GPS won’t give you warning That you should have left your car The future’s getting close now The past is closing in And closer is the memory Of the awful thing you did. She covered them with anger She covered them with fear She covered them with oxy And she covered them with beer She covered them by hiding Every part of you she loved Take it back, now, take it back, now. She covered them with anger She covered them with fear She covered them with oxy And she covered them with beer She covered them by violent She covered them with rage She covered them with distance And she covered them with age She covered them by hiding Every part of what you were And though I try, you know I’ll never take it back now And though I try, you know I’ll never take it back now

Dear Mama 03:42
Oh dear mama. Why’d you leave me ‘lone? went up the clifftop. Never found your way back home Dirty daddy. Why’d you do me wrong? Puttin’ your weight. Where it don’t belong Oh, dear mama, why’d you leave me ‘lone? Going up the clifftop. Going up the clifftop. Oh, dear mama, what have you done? Going up the clifftop. Never found your way back home. Oh my papa, took a liking to the rye now i grew big ‘nuff, we see eye to eye Oh, dear mama, why’d you leave me ‘lone? Going up the clifftop. Going up the clifftop. Oh, dear mama, what have you done? Going up the clifftop. Never found your way back Home, home, home, home home, home, home, home home, home, home, home Oh dear mama. Why’d you leave me ‘lone? me and my brother gotta do this on our own Oh, dear mama, why’d you leave me ‘lone? Going up the clifftop. Going up the clifftop. Oh, dear mama, what have you done? Going up the clifftop. Never found your way back Find your way back home Find your way back home Find your way back Home Find your way back home Find your way back home (Oh, dear brother) Find your way back home (trouble in this land) Find your way back Home (goin down the river) Find your way back home (wash the bloodstains from our hands) Find your way back home (Oh dear mama) Find your way back home (why’d you leave me ‘lone?) Find your way back Home (went up the clifftop) Never find your way back home

about

In the four years since our last release, "Red Summer Spirit", we’ve had several line-up changes, gotten married and divorced, had children, moved into and out of houses and grown into ourselves."Parable" is our homage to these years and the intensely personal music they’ve created.
